I’ve always loved Badlands Journal by Talisa Sutton. Not only for it’s fashion inspiration but I turn to it often if I’m looking for some aesthetic inspiration. It has a very muted stripped-back energy that I love. It doesn’t crowd the interview subjects and feels powerful in a very understated way.
So I was very honoured when Dominic and I were asked to team up on this shoot with singer and actress Holly White.
Holly invokes the spirit of 60s icon Edie Sedgwick without even trying, she’s confident, a bit edgy and utterly chic and her hair just tops it off. For this reason there was no question about how I was going to approach the makeup.
Here’s the Edie Sedgwick look I turned to for inspiration…
And here’s a few of my favourite shots of Holly White from the shoot…
I don't usually work with any one brand of product. My training was always to use the best products for the job, no matter the brand. If it works, it works.
However I find a great deal of comfort in NARS foundations and concealers. They're just always such a never-fail consistency and deliver so much with such a small amount.
Which is why it was such a beautiful compliment to have work shared by them on their 5 million-strong Instagram.
